Finally got around to taking this test (instead of doing some study). Not sure what to make of the results, but it will be definitely interesting to see how this changes as the years progress. What I know about medicine’s various career paths could probably fill a thimble (on a good day).

I’m sure Ms. Lean Times will be pleased that surgical careers are towards the bottom of the list ;) Anyhow the burning question is…

What is preventative medicine?

“… fuck medical school, really. It’s just a means to an end. no more, no less. I won’t let it take pieces of me I don’t want to give away…”

Had the first formative paper today- was much easier than I expected. Really I dodged a bullet. I’ve said already I’ve only just found my routine in school, so I am sure I will do even better next time… The telling point was my success with everything I had studied for, in comparison with the problems I had with things I had simply ignored. Something to work on, but at least conceptually there is nothing anxiety-inducing.

But the apathy I tell you! Instead of studying yesterday I worked, and played golf. Then went out for dinner. And then concluded the evening with a few episodes of the “The Wire”. Saturday was much the same. Except more golf and less work.

There was some token study here and there, but really I should have done much more. Or not- maybe incremental amounts will continue to serve me well rather than obscene cram sessions. I perform much better under relaxed conditions and while my memory continues to retain things as well as it does, this will do just fine.

For the minority of you chasing an iPod nano presently, at least get it in red, so some money goes towards fighting AIDS in Africa.

And finally:

I’m no bleeding heart- but this is bullshit and should be stopped.
